NOVA, which receives funding through the federal Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act, has a number of services that might surprise you. In addition to operating comprehensive career centers for local job seekers, NOVA’s services for business include staffing and recruitment assistance, linkages to labor market information, outplacement assistance, and connections to information about business tax credits and resources to help you train and retain your current workforce.
NOVA’s customer base is both local job seekers and local companies. Their goal is to train unemployed workers in the skills employers actually need and make the connection between those needs and skilled talent. NOVA has local companies on its board to guide its initiatives and programs. For example, NOVA has board members from Google, Amazon, Applied Materials, and Veritas, as well as small business representatives.
