Tell us more about your business:
Scientology,
which means
“knowing how to know,” is a religion based on the
works of L. Ron Hubbard. The
Scientology religion teaches that a
person is an immortal spiritual being who has a body and a mind and
lives on
from lifetime to lifetime.
Scientologists
believe that the “reactive mind”
(that portion of the mind that works on a totally stimulus-response
basis, not
under the volitional control of the Individual) exerts force and the
power of
command over one’s awareness, purposes, thoughts, body and
action. Through
spiritual counseling called “auditing,”
Scientologists reduce and ultimately erase the power of the reactive
mind. The reactive
mind is of no benefit to the
Individual and is a source of irrationality, fears and nightmares. Its eradication achieves
the State of Clear
and brings to view
the individual himself and is a landmark step in the full discovery of
one’s
true nature and in ultimately achieving full spiritual awareness and
freedom.
What do your clients crave? Gaining
knowledge about
life, the mind and better understanding of their fellow man. They are interested in
improving themselves
and their environment. They
are
interested in survival for all mankind.
How long have you been in business? Established
as a Scientology Mission in 1979.
It
became a full fledged Church of Scientology
in 1991.
What’s the story behind your
business name? In
1979 the closest Scientology church in the Mountain
View
area was in San
Francisco.
In order to have their own organization
for
Scientology spiritual counseling and religious training, local members
founded
the Mission of Mountain View which eventually grew and became
today’s Church
of Scientology
of Mountain
View.
What
I like most about being a Chamber Ambassador is… I
like the opportunity to meet members of the local businesses and
organizations
as a representative of the Chamber.
