    Date: June 13, 2017
    Time: 2:00 PM - 2:00 PM PDT
    Event Description:
In response to the growing number of homeless households in Mountain View, the Trinity United Methodist Church (on the corner of Hope St. and Mercy St.) is considering hosting a seasonal cold weather shelter for homeless families and single women in their sanctuary. This Cold Weather Shelter Program will provide nightly shelter and meals along with restrooms, shower facilities and case management during the winter months for approximately 10 families and single women. Participants will be accepted by referral only (no walk-ins) and will have to leave at a designated time each morning.

The program would be operated by HomeFirst, a non-profit agency with 28 years experience operating winter shelters. Other collaborating agencies will be: Community Services Agency, Hope’s Corner, Downtown Streets Team, County Office of Supportive Housing and West Valley Community Services. In the future, the church may host a small  culinary arts training program as well, and we will reach out for your feedback as potential future employers of our trainees.

County staff and non-profit partners involved with the shelter will be available for input at the OPAL nightclub on June 13th at 2pm  - please come by if you have thoughts or questions.
