Program Director, Leadership Mountain View (LMV)

Leadership Mountain View (LMV) is a dynamic and diverse program for community and business leadership development. Ten all-day sessions are spread across nine months, providing unique training and on-site experiences at local corporations, public services, City Hall, and non-profits to build leadership skills, knowledge of the community, and meaningful relationships between people and organizations. LMV is part of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation, the 501(c)(3) non-profit arm of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce (MVCC).
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the CEO of the MVCC, the Program Director is accountable for all aspects of the operation of the organization, including program development and facilitation, volunteer management and resource development, financial management, budgeting and planning. The Program Director must ensure that LMV remains mission driven and on budget. Working closely with LMV Advisory Council and LMV program committees, the Program Director plans and delivers program trainings, including location and speaker management. The Program Director is the chief spokesperson for LMV and must successfully communicate the program’s message to external and internal audiences. We are seeking a leader who has a proven history of building strong relationships within the community, understands and embraces the diversity and culture of the community, presents clearly and effectively, has impeccable follow up, and is a consensus builder who leads by example in both values and actions. This is a part-time (20-25 hour per week) position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and execute monthly LMV program days, including securing locations, corporate hosts, speakers and leadership consultants. Lead Program Day activities including presentations, introductions, and facilitation. Engage LMV Advisory Council volunteers to assist in program day execution.
- With Advisory Council, perform the following:
- Recruit full class (30 to 32 participants) each program year
- Develop promotional collateral for LMV program and events
- Oversee LMV curriculum development
- Develop measurement mechanisms and honest, open discussions to encourage continual LMV Program improvement
- Coordinate LMV Advisory Council monthly meetings with the Advisory Council Chair
- Plan annual LMV Advisory Council annual retreat
- Perform fundraising as needed
- Secure program day and event volunteers and staffing
- Engage LMV alumni to support the program, including planning and execution of Program Days, networking, volunteering, donations as needed, and community events (such as the Art and Wine Festival)
- With MVCC CEO, perform financial management, budgeting and planning for LMV
- Serve as point person and spokesperson for LMV, including presentations to Chamber Board and Foundation Board
- Meet monthly with LMV Executive Committee
- Oversee regular postings to social media
- Ensure LMV web page is updated as needed
- Maintain LMV's records, files, databases, and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Program development, design, and management experience.
- Strong relationship building skills to establish, develop and gain the trust of class participants, partner organizations and representatives at all levels, class speakers, Council & Alumni, etc
- Ability to attract, develop, and retain culturally diverse class.
- Familiarity with the local community is essential. Graduate of LMV program preferred.
- Experience with volunteer management.
- Teaching or formal presenting experience preferred.
This is a part–time exempt position, estimated at 20-25 hours per week, with some days or weeks requiring more time than others. Salary is $3100 per month. Reports to President/CEO of MVCC.
