  • Dear Community Member:

Continuing the City of Mountain View’s long tradition of forward thinking and thorough planning, City leaders are evaluating options for funding critical long-term needs, such as transportation, housing, and other vital services. One option the City is exploring is a funding measure on the 2018 ballot to restructure the City’s Business License Tax (BL).

On behalf of the City of Mountain View and the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, we would like to invite you, or a representative of your business, to attend one of two upcoming meetings to learn more about this and to share your feedback on potentially restructuring the City’s BL.  Both meetings will be held at Mountain View City Hall 500 Castro Street, 2nd floor in the Plaza Conference Room.

    • Thursday, May 10 at 8:00am
    • Monday, May 14 at noon

As a valued business in our community, we hope that you will accept this invitation and give us your feedback. Mountain View’s business license tax has not changed in more than 50 years and most businesses only pay $30 no matter what the size. A key component of our evaluation is obtaining input from you and gauging the business community’s support for a tax that would generate significantly more revenue yet keep the tax low for small businesses.

If you have further questions about the meeting, please contact Sheila Tucker at sheila.tucker@mountainview.gov. We appreciate your consideration, and we look forward to seeing you at one of the two upcoming meetings.  If you can’t make either meeting, but would like to provide input, we are also conducting a brief on-line survey.

    Sincerely,
