    Dear Friends of CSA,

I am writing today to provide an update on how the COVID-19 outbreak is impacting the agency's operations - specifically the changes we are putting into place to adapt to an ever-evolving situation as well as emerging client needs.

As you may know, our pantry hours have been modified, and we are distributing pre-filled bags of groceries to clients three times a week in our parking lot. Typically, much of our food is provided through grocery rescue partners. With grocery stores being inundated with shoppers, they do not have a lot of extra product to donate right now. We will be in need of additional canned and packaged food resources in the coming weeks.

On the client side, we are experiencing a high volume of people seeking food and a huge surge in the number of households requesting emergency financial assistance. Within the next two to four weeks, we anticipate that the number of people seeking help will go up dramatically as the full impact of the Shelter-In-Place ordinance is felt, especially since many of the people we help are facing reduced hours or job loss, plus caring for their children who are at home for the duration. Additionally, we expect that we will see a number of first-time clients approaching us for help with basic needs as we get closer to the end of the month and rents and mortgage payments are due.

While CSA is in a healthy financial position, the agency, along with other nonprofit social service agencies, will take a financial hit. We have already had to postpone our only fundraising event that supports our homeless population. We have set up a special campaign to provide assistance for rent, utilities, food and other emergency requests, with all funds raised going directly to these urgent client needs.

If you are in a position to do so, please make a gift to this special campaign. You can make an online gift by clicking here. You can also mail a check to CSA (204 Stierlin Road, Mountain View, CA 94043) or contact our Development Office for more information.

Thank you for partnering with us at this difficult time to help our neighbors in need.

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.

    Warm regards,
